Turnkey tossed the lock back into the chest, before sending the entire thing back home.
His mind wandered back to his current home, a tent pitched just inside the Everfree forest. Granted, it was unlike most tents, in that it was larger on the inside than it was on the outside, due to a spacial distortion spell set by his brother, a handy little spell invented to conceal the largest library in all of Equestria, but not nearly as powerful, as the one he had was for concealing a big tent inside of a much smaller tent, rather than an enormous library inside of a boulder, but the idea was the same. Besides, he didn't need an enormous space, what he had was more than enough. Besides, Kai had insisted. He dare not try to disassemble the spell himself, lest the tent collapse inward, causing a great implosion that would scatter his belongings about the forest.
"'m a travelling salespony, actually. Not that I need to be," he said, taking back his tools. "I could retire right now, and live comfortably for the rest of my life, but I'd be bored out of my mind." He carefully wrapped his necklace back around his neck, making sure not to stab himself in the process. "After all, if this weren't fun would I really be doing it?"
Turnkey shivered from nose to tail, stirring his muscles after the short break. He felt his stomach stirring, as well, reminding him that he had yet to eat this night. He made it a point to visit one of these cafes, and get something to eat. The evening was still young, there must be something open...

Silent Storm heard the stallion's gently grumbling stomach, and an idea sparked in his mind. There had been a recipe he wanted to try on somepony else, but had been to shy to invite anypony over to his cottage for dinner. Turnkey seemed like the perfect candidate for the taste-testing job, and Storm's curiosity had been piqued by him as well. Storm sized up the unicorn, unsure whether he could trust him in his home. There are some things a pony wants to leave unknown about themselves, and Turnkey seemed to be one who had a nasty habit of going in places he probably shouldn't. Still, Storm had taken a liking to him and was intrigued by his strange demeanor and interest with unnoticed entry. He came to a final conclusion, and opened his mouth to speak. "Are you hungry? You could come by my place and test a dish for me, if you'd like." Silent Storm said to Turnkey, "It's not very elaborate, but it's cozy and I have a fully stocked kitchen." Turnkey was slightly chagrined at having somepony else realize he hungered. Granted, the idea of having somepony cooking for him was not a foreign concept, nor an unwelcome concept, but there was one word that stuck in his mind: 'Test.' To Turnkey, that said that this was a recipe that Silent Storm hadn't done before.
Furthermore, Turnkey wasn't usually invited into somepony's house, but rather, he invited himself in. The concept of being a guest wasn't necessarily new, but rather, one he didn't use very often. He called back to memories of the last time he had been a guest. He decided it was best he didn't resort to knocking over a vase, like last time, but otherwise, the same behaviour.
Still, it was a free meal, with an acquaintance he didn't find detestable in any way. And even if it was terrible, he'd gone a few days without eating before: the result of a mind too busy to constantly check for anomalies in the body, such as lack of sleep, bladder capacity, and dehydration. If somepony didn't come to enforce a break every so often, he'd never get around to fulfilling these needs.
"I would be delighted to dine with you, Sir Storm," smiled Turnkey. He then turned to Rarity, and bowed. "Ever so lovely meeting you, Miss Rarity, and may our paths cross again soon." He then turned back to his host. "Lead the way."

Silent Storm gave a favorable nod in Miss Rarity's direction, then trotted off in the direction of the place he called home.

"You're from another land entirely?" What a disappointment. The other unicorn's words where not reassuring at all. Lily could merely shake her head in disbelief. "I ... I guess so. Unless you've heard of any of the castles of laughter, friendship, kindness, happiness, families, music and rainbows ?" Her voice was clinging to a last desperate hope, dying bit by bit for each location mentioned. None of the kingdoms seemed to spark any memories in the eyes of the lilac unicorn. Lily thought hard. She would have to tell about Unicornia as if Twilight had never heard about it before, which was hard for her. "Well ... I live in Rainbow Castle in Unicornia, and our princess is called Rarity." Lily explained. "Every year, it's our duty to make the first rainbow of the season." But surely, these ponies must know about that? It was an ancient unicorn tradition, after all. "Unicornia is the home of the unicorns. The other ponies live in Ponyville, and the pegasi live on Butterfly Island and the breezies in Breezie Blossom." Lily Lighlty babbled all these facts at the top of her head, soon running out of air. After taking a breather, she pleaded: "Don't you know about anything that I'm talking about?" Twilight shook her head, suddenly aware that Lily was awaiting an answer. Though she had heard her companion's words, the lavender unicorn had been spacing out a bit, in all honesty; half-watching the goings-on around her, her mind lost to thoughts of strange lands and ancient evils... "I'm sorry, I've had a stressful day," she apologised, hoping Lily wouldn't think her rude for her failure to answer. "We have a town called Ponyville here, too," she added, grasping onto that one familiar name amongst Lily's panicked tirade, though the rest of it was unfamiliar. Unicorns having their own homecity instead of living among the earth ponies? There hadn't been segregation of that sort in Equestria since its founding. And unicorns being in charge of rainbows and presumably other weather - wasn't that always the job of the Pegasi? "Ponyville's actually where I live; I'm only here in Whinnyapolis for the Summer Sun Celebration," she explained. "There's got to be something in the library about your homeland, though," she added, stubbornly clinging to the notion that her library couldn't fail her, despite its inadequacy on the matter of Eclipse herself. "I think Princess Celestia might want me to stick around after the celebration" - massive understatement, maybe; if the Princess thought they'd be of any use in the fight against Eclipse, she'd almost certainly require them to stay and help - "but my assistant Spike should be able to help find what you need, if you stopped by," she added, hoping that this prospect would soothe the other unicorn - and that she was right and the library would provide the answers Lily wanted. (ooc: Sorry that took so long for me to reply... Becka, if you still want one of your character to interact with Twi here, I'd be more than happy for them to stumble across her now ^^)

It would seem that this Ponyville wasn't "her" Ponyville. Nothing here was as it should be. Lily Lightly couldn't fathom what had happened, but she had to believe that the library would give her some answers. "So where can I find this Spike?" She inquired, sniffling softly as the last tears dries.
This was where Fluttershy decided to step in. She had no idea who this pony was or where she had come from, but she could definitely help her in some way. Lily looked like she was a couple of years older than the pegasus, yet acted like even more of a ninny than herself. Strangely enough, this imbued Fluttershy with the same strength that she felt when taking care of a lost foal, or helping an injured animal. The yellow pony stepped forth, placing one hoof on Lily's shoulder and pointing the other to a location high over the rooftops. "There, in the Neighathorn Tower. The library is on the ninth floor, and Spike should be around there somewhere." She doubted that the little dragon would have gone to bed early, left alone in their dormitory with the snack bar. "Twilight and I could take you there," she promised, winking to the strange unicorn like she would a little kid.
Lily Lightly shocked the pegasus with a sudden radiating burst of energy. "Yes, please!" She exclaimed, skipping to an fro as if unable to contain her happiness. "Let's go!"
Fluttershy then turned discreetly towards Twilight. "You really should save your energy for, um ... the real party," she murmured, shooting her friend a meaning look. They had carried out their tasks as assigned by the princesses, and it was almost time for the sun to set.
[Giving you a chance to get rid of Lily.]

[Fennec entering from Exploring New Media: eventidemlprpg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=argen&action=display&thread=64&page=2 I'm going to say he alerted some guards to the threat of the "monsters" and he's just kind of been wandering around trying to find something familiar, since I totally dropped the ball on replying with him in that thread.] This village gave Fennec a headache. The trees were huge and colorful, and equally colorful ponies lived inside them. There were unfamiliar smells and constant noise. By the time Fennec found the guards and told them of the monsters in the forest, night had fallen and he couldn't find his way back to the nice mare who had directed him to the guards in the first place. Instead, he wandered between the giant, colorful trees until he came upon a large group of ponies in the center of a clearing. There were tiny stars hanging from strings above their heads and Fennec put his ears back as he stared at them. They didn't seem to move, but how had these ponies strung tiny stars like that? With a nervous huff he reached up one large hoof and touched one. It was solid and made a little clinking noise as it bounced into the one next to it. Fennec skittered back from it and ran straight into the pony behind him. "For Gaia, I apologize." He turned, but the pony he'd bumped into had a large growth protruding from her head. He'd seen many ponies today with the large growths, but not up close like this. He couldn't help but stare. Finally he turned to the slightly more natural looking yellow pony beside the purple one with the growth, but one look and he realized she was Faye. Fennec took a step back - everypony knew the Faye were dangerous. He put a hoof out before the pony with the growth to keep her back. "Don't worry, I can take care of the Faye." Then he drew his sword.

A barely audible "Eeeeep" was emitted from the sun-yellow peg. Twilight Sparkle was not late in stepping in between them, warrior and 'faye'.
"That won't be necessary," she said hurriedly, awkwardly adding a "thank you" that sounded more like a question than a statement. She shot Fluttershy an urgent look that meant: Now would be a good time for you to depart. "I'll be with you shortly," she promised, set on fulfilling her duty to the Princesses and staying in the square of Argen for as long as it would take to see everything in order and all of her friends back.
Fluttershy nervously eyed Fennec before taking her leave with Lily Lightly, who had already bounded halfway out of the crowed. The pegasus was obviously not convinced that her reunion with Twi would be soon.
Twilight smiled at Fennec as if to plead him to lower his weapon, not having understood any of his talk about Fayes. She assumed that he was part of a street performance of some kind - but he did not seem to have any theatrical crew nearby. He had indeed thrown her off guard by coming out of nowhere with a very real-looking weapon. but the questions would have to wait; just then something else interrupted the scene.

The pony with the growth on her forehead was...letting the Faye get away? Fennec narrowed his eyes at the purple one. "Don't you know how dangerous..."
He didn't get any further. As he was speaking a second Faye - this one blue with hair like a rainbow - landed next to them, panting. A strange, striped pony was on it's back, unconscious.
"What in Gaia?" He began, but was cut off by the Faye.
"Twilight - I found Zecora." Rainbow Dash knelt so the zebra would slide off her back to the ground. When she stood she noticed the brown stallion with the sword.
"Woah. Cool!"

"Dangerous?" Twilight blinked, not knowing quite what to make of that. If anypony was dangerous, it certainly wasn't gentle Fluttershy, and even if she were to assume he was part of a production, then scaring the timid Pegasus like that was in very poor taste. "Fluttershy's the last pony to..."
She didn't get chance to finish giving voice to any of her thoughts, however, as a rainbow-coloured streak zoomed in for a landing, revealing itself as Rainbow Dash. With a half-hearted "please excuse me" to the sword-wielder, the unicorn hurried to her friend's side.
"Is she hurt?" lavender pony asked in concern, leaning over the unconscious zebra to check for injury. "Did you find her like this, or did you see what knocked her out?" That Zecora's pulse was steady, at least, gave her some degree of relief, but there was no denying that Twilight was still worried. Had this Eclipse done something to the zebra? There was no reliable information on what sort of powers this queen had, after all.

"Her house was surrounded by monsters," Dash said, although she had never seen this specific type of monster before. It wasn't a timberwolf, but the peg had no idea what it was. "When she tried to come out one of the monsters knocked her unconscious, but I kicked it in the face."
A big grin spread across Dash's face at that, but it fell quickly as she looked down at the still-unconscious zebra. "I was able to get her out, but the monsters are still out there. I don't think anyone should go to the forest."
Fennec had been listening with a frown. "I came from the forest. Those monsters attacked the two ponies I was with. The Faye one flew off, but the other..." He shrugged. All Fennec had heard was the cry of pain as the wimpy white stallion was attacked.

Twilight bent over the unconscious mare, her lavender face clouded by concern for her zebra friend. "Monsters? What sort of monsters?" Twilight hoped Dash would be able to give her a description, at least, something she could look up in the Princesses' library once the celebration was over and everypony was reassured that nothing bad was really going on. If she couldn't find out anything about Eclipse, then learning about the monsters she was using had to be the next-best thing. Another long vigil in the library awaited her after the night's end, Twilight decided; anything, anything at all she could find on the creatures or other means this evil being was using had to be worth finding as soon as possible.
"Princess Celestia said this morning that the forest would be sealed off," Twilight reminded the Pegasus. Come to think of it, Princess Luna had also specifically instructed Rainbow not to enter the forest either, although, Twilight couldn't blame her friend for disobeying that order. Even had Zecora not been in imediate danger, Rainbow's element would have demanded it.
"You came from the Everfree Forest?" Now, Twi's full attention was turned back towards the newcomer with the sword. She had thought nopony but Zecora lived in the forest's foreboding depths, but she knew of no other reason anyone would have been in there. True, the most direct route to Ponyville wound through the trees, but most ponies prefered to take the longer way around than risk its dangers - then again, if this pony had been travelling through the forest, that might explain the sword.

Dash shrugged. If she knew what kind of monsters they were, she would have said so. "They looked like giant armadillo/crocodile things."
Fennec nodded in agreement and put away his sword, even if the blue one was Faye. "Yes. Large teeth, big claws, yellow eyes. Didn't see them any closer than the reach of my sword."
"Is it real?" Dash asked, eyes wide.
Fennec frowned at her. "Of course it's real, so keep your distance, Faye."
Before any of them could say more, the zebra groaned. Her eyes opened, but they were distant and glassy, staring at the sky that was no longer ruled by the Princesses of Day and Night. When she spoke, though, her voice was clear and carried over the entire party.
"Awakened by the bearers of six Harmony now has fall'n betwixt All parallels have come to group casting all but faithful troupe
Cast eternal, for her sin To empty realms, the Opaque within If you hear the call of arcane lore, Your world shall rest on Equestria no more
Those that she would choose to save will not befall a fate most grave But shouldst thou scout for greater power Time immense wouldst make thou sour
Anew civilization, there to last, Atop the graves of friends soon past Embrace her, run, or stand and fight Ruler of time 'tween day and night."
Dash turned her magenta eyes to Twilight and whispered. "Atop the graves of friends soon past? That doesn't sound good."

"Yellow eyes. Large claws and teeth," Twilight repeated the description, comitting the facts to memory. Not much to go on, but with the idea that they were similar in appearance to armadilos and crocodiles, that might give her just enough to consult the library about. Knowing what Eclipse's minions were, if not having much on Eclipse herself, could still give them some sort of edge.
She didn't get chance to say anything else, however, as Zecora's eyes snapped open and she began to speak in tones that suggested reciting an ancient text from memory. Or could it be a prophecy? That was one field Twilight had no experience in, although she knew, at least, that such were best taken seriously. She listened with rapt attention until the zebra had finished.
As Rainbow spoke, Twilight glanced at her. Like her friend, she liked the sound of that sentence less than the rest of the prophecy put together. It gave her a nasty sense of foreboding, a horrible coldness settling in the pit of her stomach. If this came true... did that mean one - more than one - of the incarnations of the elements would die before this was over? Her best friends... she didn't want to imagine losing any of them; gentle Fluttershy; reliable Applejack; strong-willed Rainbow; generous Rarity; fun-loving Pinkie...
She'd almost killed them all yesterday; it had been a miracle that any of the six had survived, let alone all of them. If any of them fell... would it be because she would lead them to their deaths? Twilight knew she wouldn't be able to cope if that were to happen. She couldn't run the risk that another m0ment of poor judgement on her part would doom any of those she cared about.
But how could she make certain to prevent it?
"I don't like this," she confided quietly to Rainbow, facial features contorted with worry. "I don't like this at all."

Goosebumps peppered Dash's forelegs and wings as she watched Twilight's expression. Whatever was happening was worse than anything they'd fought through before. Worse than Night Mare Moon. Worse than Discord. They'd already lost against this Eclipse once, and it sounded from the prophecy like they wouldn't survive if they fought her again.
"Perhaps we should tell Princess Celestia what Zecora said?" Dash looked down at the zebra, whose sightless eyes had closed once she finished speaking. "And get her somewhere safe?"
She looked around the square, but they were new to Whinnyopolis and didn't know where to go, other than the Tower.
