Name: Razzaroo Hoofspen IV, otherwise known as "Roo".
Age: 500-ish, but only looks about 25.
Type: G4 Unicorn
Symbol: A large, old-looking book, same mint green color of his hair.
Appearance: He looks almost exactly like his great-great-granddaddy Razzaroo (the first!), except he has lavender eyes like his great-great-grandmother, Kailani (and he's a unicorn). So that means: Purple body, mint green/pink/white mane and tail, lavender eyes. He lets his hair grow a bit shaggy, since he's been around so long. Who cares much for appearances when you're 500-ish?
Abilities/Powers/Special talent: "Telepathy" like the original Razz (except Roo can't read minds, just project his voice into other's minds), and telekinesis like all unicorns. As one of Kail's "children" he has the power of the Healing Stone and heals himself quickly, although unlike many of his siblings and cousins he has no talent for healing others. Also a historian that could put Twilight Sparkle to shame. Except he's too nice to do so.
Personality: Roo is nothing like his namesake, Razz. His personality is much more like his great-great-great-grandfather Canto Hoofspen. He's bookish, knows most of Ponyland/Equestria history, and has been around long enough to be polite but un-wavering in his beliefs. He's basically a more-mature Kail (because she can be rash at times...she is still young compared to him). He may sometimes say "yes yes yes" like the original Razz.
Items/Accessories/Companions: You will never find him without his sticky notes and pen that he keeps in a small bag around his neck. He writes down as much as he can, for "posterity".
Birthplace/home world: Born in Course, moved all over Ponyland before settling in Canterlot a few hundred years ago.
History: After his great-great-grandmother Kailani Hoofspen's death, Roo's mother moved to Course where the Hoofspen line originated. Discord had been defeated (for now), but the Rainbows were no longer in power. Ponies worshiped the Princesses of Day and Night, with the Rainbows trapped in their separate stripes as the Elements of Harmony.
Course seemed like the only option for a mare that still worshiped the Rainbows, since the Coursians still remembered The Great War and their Heroes: Queen Luna, Princess Celeste, and the little green pegasus who gave her life to save them. Ponyville and Equestria moved on without Course, and the old ways remained. The Hoofspens were always the court scribes, and in a thousand years that hadn't changed, so Roo's mother took over the bookshop and scribe duties.
Roo grew up the youngest of his mother's many children, surrounded by books - by history and legend and myth, and it's stayed with him all these many (many!) years. He wishes he could have met his ancestor, Canto Hoofspen, who so diligently recorded the history of Ponyland, even while his mare and fillies made that history. Roo isn't so interested in making history as recording it, which is good because a lot has happened in the past few years that needs to be recorded.
After his mother's death, Roo left the bookshop and scribe duties to his older siblings to explore the lands he'd only ever read about. He was disappointed to find Dream Valley nothing more than a memory and a ruined castle, but Haven's Valley was still the same, and Ponyville hadn't changed much (it had grown quite a bit). He visited the Northlands, Fatum Isles, Butterfly Island, and Ponytown. He never did make it to the Darklands, but from what he hears that's probably a good thing.
Eventually Roo made it to Canterlot, the new center of Equestria civilization, and settled there as a royal scribe (of course!). He knows he is part of some great destiny that the Princesses won't talk about (they claim spoilers), and they have sent him to Whinnyopolis to keep watch for his ancestor, who met the Princesses when they were still young.
Other: Part of the long-lived race that Kail and Razz spawned thousands of years ago. Each generation lives longer than the last, so this kid's going to live for a LONG time.
