Name: Princess Celestia
Age: Ageless
Type: Alicorn
Symbol: A cadmium sun with golden rays
Appearance: Compared to the equestrian people, Celestia is a really big pony. She stands tall and has a long white horn on her forehead. Her gentle eyes are a soft shade of purple, and her mane, flowing as if underwater, has the colours of the Aurora Borealis. Her coat and feathered wings are as white as untouched snow with a very subtle tint of rosy pink.
Abilities/Powers/Special talent: With her unicorn powers, Celestia may raise the sun in the morning, and lower it in the evening to make way for the night, thus substaining a balance that she and her sister and counterpart Luna has kept since their mother Gaia died.
Celestia has also been documented to have power to raise the moon and stars, but it is unknown whether or not she lost this ability or not after Luna's return.
Princess Celestia is telekinetic and can move things with magic. She can also send letters magically, teleporting them to re-appear in another location.
Personality: Princess Celestia appears collected and posesses millenia of wisdom. She is very regal and most often formal. She is calm and seldom loose her temper, and she has a huge sense of responsibility when it comes to running Equestria and protecting her subjects (and Luna). Sometimes her duties bore her, and while she appreciates the respect that the Equestrians present her with, she sometimes wishes they wouldn't be so scared of her.
Princess Celestia is light-hearted and has a bright sheen in her eyes that sometimes sparkle with a hint of mischief.
Items/Accessories/Companions: Princess Celesita wears a golden crown and necklace as well as golden hoof protectors.
Her ever loyal companion is the mischievous phoenix Philomena.
Birthplace/home world: Canterlot in Equestria
History: Princess Celestia was merely a teen when her entire world shattered. With little Luna between her wings, the middle sister flew out of danger's way as Eclipses battle with their mother Gaia shook the lands below.
When it was all over, Celesita and Luna where left alone, believing that her big sister and mother had destroyed each other.
For thousands of years the sisters resided in a valley that they called Canterlot - long, long before it became the capital of Equestria. During this time they raised and set the sun and the moon as Queen Gaia had instructed them. Princess Celestia, never forgetting the legacy that Gaia had left behind, sought desperately together with Princess Luna for the lost Elements of Harmony for many years.
One day the white alicorn traced the rainbow's power to Dream Valley, where it had been lying dormant until the take-over of Discord. He had been torturing the inhabiting ponies for a century, and the princesses knew they could not allow it to go on.
After challenging (and being defeated by) Discord, they finally got close enough to get a hold of the locket which Discord has kept as a "laughable, tacky trinket". The sisters released its power, and thanks to their strong bonds the Elements would correspond and defeat him. From that day on, the princesses ruled side by side over Equestria.
But Princess Luna would disagree. Even though the sisters worked equally hard to keep the universe in balance, Celestias younger sister found that she was more prominent in the eyes of the ponies. Luna was transformed by a wicked evil into Nightmare Moon, and Celestia had to use her powers against her sister in order to stop her - and banish her into the moon.
Many sorrowful years followed where Celestia alone handled the royal duties.
A 1000 years later, she foresaw the signs of Nightmare Moon's return. Since the Elements of Harmony had lost their power once Nightmare Moon had been banished and the bonds between Celestia and her sister was broken, Princess Celestia was no longer under their protection. She sent her most loyal student Twilight, who had also seen the signs, on a quest to check up on the preparations preceding the Summer Sun Celebration with the hidden motif of gathering a group of friends that could join forces to defeat Nightmare Moon once and for all.
Rendered powerless without the Elements Celestia had no chance when Nightmare Moon returned in all of her glory. Her first objective was namely to get rid of her sister before bringing an eternal night to the lands. Celestia, who had feared her own end, was however not killed. The vengeful black alicorn punished her sister by sending banishing her.
When Celestia woke up, she found herself in the impenetrable darkness in the wastelands of Opaque. There, by the light of her horn, she met up with Eclipse, whom she had been sure was dead.
After Twilight and her friends restored Luna to a small and powerless version of herself, Celestia was let out of Opaque. She raised the sun over Equestria and peace was restored.
But Princess Celestia still isn't sure weather her meeting with Eclipse actually took place, or if she had been lulled into nightmares in the moon.
Other: Celestia has lived for several thousands of years, and being one of the former hosts to the Elements of Harmony as well as the eldest of the two celestial sisters, she possesses great knowledge about its power, but none of its origins.
She dreads the eventual return of Eclipse more than anything else. While banned to the Opaque, she saw Eclipse and what had become of her. The image still haunts her dreams.
