Name:
Applejack
Age:
Young Adult (Never ask a gal her age, y'all!)
Type:
Earth Pony
Symbol:
Three red apples with green leaves & stems
Appearance:
AJ's body is a soft orange with three red apples as her cutie mark. Her ayes are a green-apple green. Her hair is natural blonde and slightly wavy, tied both at the mane and the tail. It would not be at all surprising if her hair were to have split-ends, because she doesn't really put much time or interest into her looks. Her only token of vanity is her beloved cowgirl hat that she's had since she was a little filly. Applejack doesn't look any bigger than any other mare her age, but she is quite strong.
Abilities/Powers/Special talent:
Other than her strength and agility she's gained over years of framework and rodeos, Applejack is an earthling and doesn't possess any special powers. She's extremely good at keeping her promises and telling the truth, which maybe could be seen as a special ability to some ponies.
However, in times of serious peril she is able to call up her element alongside her friends to wield the Elements of Harmony against evil.
Personality:
As her Friendship element tells y'all, Applejack is above all the most honest individual you'll ever find. She sees the value in telling it to you like it is, no matter the situation. This sometimes backfires on her, since the truth is ain't always what people want or need to hear and can often make matters (or feelings) worse without her even realizing. These blunders are always excused though, because her friends always know she means well.
Growin' on a farm with three siblings and a loving grandmother, AJ has family-minded values as strong as her southern twang. She puts her family before anything else, and a loss of (or betrayal from) one of them would be the worst blow imaginable. Without her folks around and Granny with her naps and Big Mac with his plowing work, the duty of motherin' for little Applebloom usually falls upon AJ, which she performs well enough for a big sister. Despite being the middle child, she shoulders the brunt of the farmwork for the sake of her family, but that's fine. She enjoys it and is quite proud of her role and loves gettin' dirty - the fertile earth between her hooves and sunshine above, that's the life!
In addition to her pride in physical labor, she's also very athletic with a passionate competitive streak. It's not so much about winning for her - she just likes to show her stuff! Rodeos, races, you name it. As long as she's having fun, pushing to do her best, and gettin' a little dirty while she's at it she's happy.
To her friends as well as her family, Applejack is a faithful, totally dependable and resourceful pony with a caring and good-natured heart. She picks up on the core of people's troubles pretty easily and is usually pretty sensitive to others' feelings when she's not too wrapped up in her own work. Speaking of sensitive, the usually thick-skinned AJ happens to be pretty sensitive on certain things, especially when her work ethic comes into question. She's a total workaholic and actually takes great pride in it. Anyone who thinks otherwise is sure to find themselves in a heated argument, and despite all her good qualities Applejack is not someone you'd like to get on her bad side. You mess with the bull, you're gonna get the horns, partner.
Items/Accessories/Companions:
Only her cowgirl hat, which though tattered and worn over the years, she still wears with pride. As far as companions, she sometimes relies on her border collie Winnona for some of the farm work.
Birthplace/Home World:
Sweet Apple Acres, Ponyville
History:
Born on raised on the family farm, Sweet Apple Acres, Applejack was so little she never really got to know her folks except that they loved her a whole lot. The didn't matter none, though. She still had her dear sweet Granny Smith, her baby sister Applebloom and her loving older brother Big Macintosh to fall back on. During Applejack's fillyhood the three of them stuck together and did the best they could to keep the farm going.
After a while though, AJ felt a calling from the world beyond that told her to strike out and try her luck in the big city. Though they didn't like the idea, her family supported her all the same and gave her their blessing as she headed out for Manehattan. It didn't take long though for Applejack to realize that the city and solitary life was no place for her, and that her true place of belonging in life was noplace else but the farm which she would come to inherit and the love of her family.
She returned and took on the role of leader of the family business - proving once again that the fate of a farmkid was pretty much inescapable - but she wore the title with pride. Sweet Apple Acres, though it suffered its share of hard times in the past, became a huge success and life seemed to go on just fine.
It wasn't until Twilight Sparkle moved into town that Applejack really took up much investment in having close friends, but she welcomed the idea with genuine interest and soon she found herself with a circle of many close friends whom she would do anything for.
Led by her friends, fate has recently brought them northward to Whinnyapolis where just recently it seems that trouble might be brewing.
Other:
Sample RP:
There were farm chores and then there was house chores. Sometimes, the farm chores had a way of throwing their weight around to the point where the house got neglected to the point when it was nightfall. AJ plowed through her work like no other, but that made no difference when it came to organization. Applejack could sort of remember a time when she and her siblings brought up the idea of some sort of chore scheduling chart at diner once, but like a lot of less-important things it just never got done.
It was kind of creepy doing laundry at night. That, and the fact that the orange earth pony was exhausted so he eyes were already playing tricks on her. She looked behind her as she won a battle with the wind and successfully pinned down the bed sheet to the line.
"Who's there?" She thought she heard something. It was too windy for crickets or bullfrogs to be out, but she swore it was something.
Or maybe it wasn't. "Whew, calm down Applejack.." She told herself.
She turned back around and continued her worth, hastening her pace. It was probably silly to be getting worked up over nothing, and she wouldn't dare let anyone see her this way, but that didn't change the fact that once the last pillowcase was up she grabbed the basket between her teeth and galloped to the porch faster than a jackrabbit!
