Silent Storm ran through the now open portal, small tufts of flame bursting from between his lips and a bluish glow emanating from beneath his eyelids. His hooves launched him through the portal's opening and into somewhere open, he didn't quite know where, but that hardly mattered now. This wasn't just the spicy food, something else was going on, and it was a bit stronger than just a few habeneros. It could be... he mentally hypothesized, but I thought that was finished, and why would it happen here?
Sil threw his head back and lit the area with a massive jet of flickering blue flame, accompanied by the thundering cry of an enraged, fully grown dragon. He opened his eyes, and they were also bright with the same release of blue energy. The dragon blood's ear-shattering, blinding outburst lasted nearly a minute and a half and concluded with the flame emitted from his muzzle rapidly fluctuating between green and white, then slowly winking out of existence.
Gasping for sweet oxygen, Silent Storm fell to the ground, and hastily checked himself over to see if his prediction was correct. After a quick examination, he determined that his teeth were sharper and more angular, his wing membranes were slightly thicker and tougher than before, his long-distance vision had sharpened by a substantial degree, and several of his teeth in the top row were longer than the rest, but not yet fang-like.
Thrice damned metamorphose Sil thought, I need to get someplace with fireweed, or this is going to HURT. He shakily stood, and slowly plodded back over to the portal.
"Do you have any fireweed?" The colt desperately asked Kai, "Not enough time to explain, but it has deep red leaves, is used in certain fire-protection enchantments and potions, and is sometimes known as lizardbane. I really need some as soon as physically possible, or this is going to be very, very painful for the both of us."

[Well, that was a short meal. Anyway, Kai and Sil are bound for Canterlot. To find some Fireweed.]
Kai followed Sil through the portal, just in time to see him burst with a powerful light and sound. He immediately sealed the portal, and set it to a backup feed. If anypony inside were to open the portal, it would lead them to his castle in the forest. They were drawing enough attention to themselves already, he didn't need any more. Thankfully, nopony had come by the time Sil was done. However, he had a panicked look on his face, as he asked his question.
Fireweed... Fireweed... Yes, Kai remembered writing of its effects. And if he remembered writing it...
"I hope you know what it looks like, and that you know what you're doing when you get it." Kai's horn began to glow orange. He knew what that meant. Still, he couldn't allow himself to stop now. This was too important. He pushed the energy out anyway, and the orange glow paled, almost to white, as surge after surge ran from the base of his horn to the tip. With each pulse of the humming glow, the tip of his horn grew ever brighter, and the humming grew ever louder. With the eleventh pulse, the off-white glow turned rusty red, as he released the energy. He and Sil both disintegrated into flecks of white light, before the space between them turned into a pillar of blue light. A split second later, the column was whizzing through the air towards Canterlot, and the two were nowhere to be found.
[yes, I checked with Eloc before writing that I stole his character away to Canterlot. Because by the way, Kai and Sil are going to Canterlot. Therefore, we are leaving this thread. That is all.]

Geoff watched Kai and Sil leave in a rush. "Well more nachos for me!" he said cheerfully and grabbed some more. "So I guess it's just the two of us, Turnkey isn't it?" He munched cheerfully, obliviously.
"So what's your story?" He asked Turnkey. "I guess since it's just the two of us it won't hurt aye? And we can have a grand ol' time without them."

[Kai is gone. Turnkey/Usutora is no longer bound by the color rule.]
"Well," said Usutora, a bit concerned about the other two, "I'm a locksmith. I design locks for the other ponies I meet, so that they may keep their belongings safe. I also pick lock for ponies who have lost their keys," he added, indicating the choker necklace that he always wore. "It's an honest job with an honest living. Though I am a bit miffed when I hear that thieves usually destroy the chest, rather than picking the lock on it. It irks me to see all of my fine work going to waste."

"If it's your job to ensure that their valuables are kept secure, isn't it also your duty not to come up with an unpickable lock, but also a chest that is safe from other means of entry?" Geoff inquired.
"And isn't it a tad suspicious to walk around with so many lockpicks on your neck? Do you really need so many? I've never picked locks myself, trying to stay on the good side of the law of course, so I honestly don't know, but it seems a bit much." Geoff shrugged and returned to his cider. It was a surprisingly deep stein he was beginning to realize.
Geoff looked at the clock. "Kai and Sil have been gone for a while. Do you think they're coming back?" [I'm sorry about the onflux of questions. It's what I do when I'm not really sure what to do haha.]

"It's not my say where they store their belongings," chuckled Usu. "I design locks, not chests. If it were up to me, everypony would store their belongings in iron boxes with internal locks, so that you would have to either pick the lock, or have the key." He took another swig of Ale, before continuing on. "Now, I don't tell my customers what to do, because that's not my place. They are free to do as they wish, including asking me for suggestions."
Another swig of ale finished the bottle. Two was enough for tonight, he had a job to do in a few hours.
"I don't think it's all that suspicious for a locksmith to carry around the tools of his trade. It's not uncommon for musicians to carry their instruments around, in case inspiration strikes. I once knew this mare in Ponyville who carried around a few toothbrushes everywhere she went. Why should it be strange that I keep my tools with me?" A corn chip, absolutely loaded with guacamole and cheese found its way into his mouth. It was a wonder that it even fit.
"I carry so many with me because they all have different uses. This one's for running several pins at once, this one's for activating short pins behind long pins, they all perform different tasks."
Upon hearing Geoff's concern for Kai and Sil, Usu began to really be frightened. They had been on such good terms while eating, what could be keeping them right now? He stood up, walked over to the portal, opened it, and poked his head out to see if everything was okay. What he saw baffled him. Strange, grey creatures littered the throne room of Kai's castle. One of them saw his head sticking out of the wall and roared, charging at him, it's gaping maw riddled with sharp teeth. Usu's eyes went wide. He yanked his head back in and sealed the portal again.
"I think they're in big trouble. I also think we can't do anything to help them right now..."

Geoff followed Turnkey to the portal and looked over his shoulder. "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore." Geoff said slowly. At the loud roar Geoff did what he did poorly, but at least he did it, and that was run.
"Where.... what was that?" He shouted from across the room.

"I've never seen any creature like that before," said Usu, shivering a bit. "But I know where the portal leads out, now." he paused, turning his head to face Geoff. "We're at Kai's home, right in the middle of the Everfree forest."

Geoff looked at Turnkey very confused. "Why... how are we there?
He nervously ran his hooves through his mane. "And I suppose more importantly, how do we get back to whinnyapolis? I don't particularly relish the thought of being in the Everfree Forest..."
Geoff paced nervously. "I'll do what I always do in times of stress..." And ran off to his room to use up the last bit of saltpetre and make some more black powder. It couldn't hurt certainly.

Usutora had no idea what Geoff was planning. He had been trapped in Kai's home away from home before, with no way of leaving. All it meant to him was a diet limited to what he knew how to make, using only the ingredients in the garden, and that consisted of Apples, celery, and tomatoes. Mayhap even a bit of mucking around with a lock or two, if he was alone, or a board game if he had company.
He decided it best to inform Geoff that there was nothing to worry about, and that Kai was coming back to set everything right. Mayhap. But the more he thought about it, the worse the situations he was imagining became. So instead of reassuring his brother's esteemed guest, he asked, "So what's the plan?"

"Plan?" Geoff responded bewildered. This was the most honest answer because Geoff rarely if ever had any plan to his moves. He was spontaneous and erratic to a fault.
"I was just making some gunpowder... I enjoy making chemical substances in times of stress. Making things in general. Chemistry is just easy to make things given the right substances."
"And..." He paused, choosing his words somewhat carefully. As carefully as he ever did at least. "It never hurts to have a bomb handy."

Usu had to concede that point. Having an explosive on hoof was always a good idea. Unless, of course, you were blowing up a living room, in which case, he would rather stay out of it.
Still, lack of a plan slowed him down. He had originally planned to break out a game of Monopony, which had changed to an idea of defending the place from those creatures. Now, he had no direction. It was time to slow down and think. The creatures couldn't enter unless they activated the portal, and only three unicorns in the whole of Equestria knew exactly how to activate it from the outside. One of which wasn't even acco--...
Suddenly, Usutora remembered what he was supposed to be doing after dinner. He was supposed to go steal something from the museum with Frostbite and Tundra. Which meant, if he didn't show up, Tundra would come looking for him, and That meant that somepony else who could activate the portal from the outside would soon be doing so, and Tundra would only activate it from somewhere safe, and secluded. They would be home in no time.
"Sooo... Monopony?"

Geoff shrugged his shoulders. "Sure. Monopony. I'm more of a fan of Clue, but I don't know what Kai has lying around here." A mischevious grin grew on his face. "Of course, now would be the perfect time to explore all the cubbyholes and hiding places." He said slowly, attempting to hid his enthusiasm at the idea. But then again, it was very rude of a guest to abuse his host's generosity and trust as a chance to root through their belongings. "But monopony sounds good too."

Usutora chuckled a bit. The only hiding spots around here were under Kai's bed, inside the cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom, and all throughout the garden although, why Kai would hide anything in the garden was beyond him. He had only done so once, and when he had, he complained so much about the trampled wheat that he vowed not to do it again, unless it was an emergency, which, at the time, it had been. The trees were probably the best hiding spot, though. He knew that, at his home in the Everfree, there was a small burrow underneath a pear tree. When Kai's very favorite guest had stayed with him, she had dug it out to help an injured otter she had found on the grounds.
Still, there wasn't much of value in this place. There was a chest, absolutely loaded with gold coins, but he had promised Kai that he would not touch it, and he was in enough trouble, as it was.
He walked over to the table they had just eaten off of, pushed the Nachos to the side, laid out the board, counted out the money (slipped an extra 20 bits into his own count), shuffled Chance and Community Chest, and placed the unicorn piece on the "GO" space.
"House rules: four hundred for landing on Go, fifty bits in the pot, all taxes go to the pot, free parking takes the pot. Whoever rolls highest, the player to their left goes first, property auctions are off." He smiled at Geoff with an 'I'm going to win this one' smile. "Any questions?"

Geoff paused and scratched his head and took a second to make sure he'd remember all those rules. And then he sighed and trusted Turnkey to remind him at the right times. But then he put on his game face. He might not seem like it, but he was a very competitive pony. Oh sure, when it came to sports he couldn't care less. But games were one of his things.
He smiled cockily right back at Turnkey and picked up the dice, giving them two slow shakes and rolling them. A solid twelve. But then again, that's exactly what he expected to get. He couldn't load die like unicorns could, but if he shook the dice slow enough he could usually follow the turns in his head. But he'd probably screw up or get lazy.
He shook his head out of his internal monologue and passed the dice to Turnkey. "Your turn."
